Methodology and source
- Source: Eurostat — Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), monthly indices, dataset prc_hicp_minr, unit Index, 2015 = 100 (I15). Official published aggregates only.
- All figures use the latest month available for every EU country (July 2026), so rankings never mix reference periods.
- Index levels are price indices (2015 = 100), not euro prices. A change is a percentage change of the index — never a hotel rate, a menu price or a trip cost.
- Year-on-year: 100 × [ln(index_t) − ln(index_t−12)]. Three-month: 100 × [ln(index_t) − ln(index_t−3)]. Month-on-month: 100 × [ln(index_t) − ln(index_t−1)].
- Restaurants & accommodation = CP11 (Restaurants and accommodation services (ECOICOP division 11)). Core inflation = Overall index excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco.
- Nothing is interpolated, imputed or reconstructed, and Eurostat observation flags are preserved as published. No unweighted “EU average” is calculated.
- The snapshot is built at build time; this page never contacts Eurostat as you use it.
